They're attached with the included, extremely durable double-sided tape. You can use them on the cover of your notebook, to organize and catalog the contents of your boxes, or to stylishly label anything you want.
If you don't want to glue it, you can always sew it onto leather accessories or covers by passing the thread through the holes where the eyelets are fixed.
