In 1837, the Swiss teacher Rodolphe Töpffer published a collection of illustrated stories telling the adventures of a character named Mr. Vieux Bois. Each page featured six panels with images and captions to convey the action and dialogue. It was unlike anything readers had seen.
Rodolphe Töpffer had created the world's first comic strip.
Over the next 200 years, comic book writers, artists, writers and artists have brought iconic characters to life, explored deep subjects, and artfully blurred the lines between pop culture and art.
The Blackwing 64 is a tribute to comics and the minds that bring them to life. Each pencil features a halftone design that nods to the 64-color palette used in some early comics. It also features a unique double imprint inspired by comic book letters.
Its solid graphite is perfect for both drawing and writing.
