Description
Like every Blackwing Limited Edition, vol.200 is also inspired by a great American cultural movement.
In 1948, in the uncertainty of post-war America, the Beat Generation was born.
Beat as rebellion. Beat like beat. Beat as rhythm. The rhythm of jazz music, which was listened to in those years, the rhythm of bebop and the cadence of the verses in the poems.
This literary and artistic movement, with a rebellious and anti-materialist spirit, saw the young people who were part of it (first and foremost Jack Kerouac) meeting in the cafés of New York and San Francisco to recite poetry while sipping cups of black coffee.
In the 1950s and 1960s, cafés thus became synonymous with creativity and intellectualism.
One such example was Caffè Lena in Saratoga in New York. Inaugurated in a former carpentry shop in 1960, Caffè Lena remains the oldest coffee shop in the United States, still today, in fact, if you go to NY you can't help but spend an evening there...
This longevity allowed it to host countless creative icons from the Beat Generation to members of the Folk Revival, and established Café Lena as a cornerstone of American culture.
The Blackwing 200 is a tribute to the cafés that, like Caffè Lena, have contributed to cultivating and making creative groups and movements flourish. Each pencil features a metallic copper design inspired by the classic copper coffee roasting machines found in many cafes in the 1950s and 1960s. The roasting process begins when the internal temperature of a coffee berry seed reaches 200 degrees Celsius, transforming it into the familiar coffee bean.
These pencils feature the classic solid Blackwing graphite core and will be the perfect tool for your sketches or writing, preferably with a good coffee in front.
Pack of 12 pencils with black eraser.
