Blackwing Limited Edition Vol.71

The Blackwing Vol. 71 is a tribute to American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Wright sought harmony between form and function, natural and artificial construction. The distinctive type of windows with perforated panels and the luminous quality of these artifacts made them symbols of a unique approach to design.

Each pencil has the silhouette of one of the iconic perforated panels printed on its barrel, set within a color palette typical of the last century that dialogues with the natural wood of the pencil. This model also features a copper ferrule for the eraser and extra-firm graphite (like the iconic Natural).

Few of the structures built by Frank Lloyd Wright during his historic career exemplify his search for harmony better than the Usonian homes, a term that appeared in the architect's notes around the late 1920s to more precisely define low-cost construction for a new social class.
Wright developed this building typology to demonstrate that even a simple, affordable home could be beautiful and comfortable: he designed his first Usonian home at the age of 71 in an attempt to apply the experience gained in designing for a new class of Americans emerging from the severe economic crisis.
