Blackwing Limited Edition Vol. 42

A tribute to Jackie Robinson and to those who fight for their passion.

On July 6, 1944, eleven years before Rosa Parks refused to sit in the back of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, and sparked the civil rights movement, another individual refused to move to the back of a bus. His refusal earned him a court-martial for "disrespectful behavior" and "willful disobedience of lawful command."

Lieutenant Robinson stood his ground during the trial and was acquitted of all charges. He then began his sports career, first with the Kansas City Monarchs baseball club, and a few years later, Jack "Jackie" Robinson was called up to the Major Leagues by the Brooklyn Dodgers, making a significant contribution to breaking down the racial prejudice of those years.
